Common Wealth are based in Bradford and Cardiff and work around the world. We make site-specific theatre events that encompass electronic sound, new writing, visual design and verbatim. Our work is political and contemporary – based in the present day – the here and now. We make work that is relevant and addresses concerns of our times.

What we're up to

In Cardiff, we were up in Bethesda working on Rhiannon & Ffion’s  We No Longer Talk project, exploring class and Welsh language through creating public declarations to our right to language – collaborating with some of Wales’ most exciting artists.

We look forward to delivering our first of the Four Seasons of The Posh Club – our glamorous cabaret for the over 60s – with our pals Duckie. We kicked this off with our first-ever Posh Club Boutique where we had Posh Bingo & a glamorous swap shop in the heart of St.Mellons.

In Spring, we will pilot our youth-led and inspired project for working-class young people called Take Your Place. Commissioned by Cardiff Council and collaborating with communities across Cardiff.

We’re excited to be part of the LDP project with Cardiff University and Cardiff Council – digging into the future of our city and how we can be part of shaping the future.

In Bradford, we are working with our Performance Collective two days a week to develop theatre-making & facilitation skills and devise material for a new show.

We have secured funding from The Leap for 29% Festival, a weekender of music, theatre, visual arts and activism in July, celebrating young Bradford artists and platforming local young voices. Speakers Corner & Youth Theatre Lab are currently seeking new members, starting new projects and campaigns for the Spring.

We are producing a new exhibition at Bradford Industrial Museum called Wear & Care, a collection investigating our relationship with the fast fashion industry and inspired by our show Fast, Fast, Slow, which will be open to visit for the full year.

Both our Cardiff & Bradford teams are visiting our pals over at Gob Squad for a week of creative exchange in April which will be the start of an exciting year-long collaboration.
