In 2017 we worked with Steelworkers in Port Talbot

In 2017 we worked with Steelworkers in Port Talbot to create We’re Still Here with @nationaltheatrewales a performance about the Save Our Steel campaign & the threat of the steelworks closing.

Today the last remaining blast furnace in Port Talbot has stopped producing steel - 2800 people will loose their jobs.

Our thoughts are with our friends in Port Talbot, their families & the community. What the news won’t tell you about is the impact it will have on these lives.

Feels important to share this piece of writing from the show today. For the people of Port Talbot.

They are fathers and mothers and daughters and sons. They are wives and husbands. They are neighbours, with skills and wisdom that the closure of industry cannot take away. In their heads they carry knowledge, in their hands their craft. In their hearts they carry love. From their mouths comes their voice. As Gary Keogh (& Dylan Thomas) said - we will not go quietly into the night ♥️

We're looking for:
✨ Young People 16-30
✨ People who love music! You might be a DJ, MC or musician, you might make music in your bedroom or you might feel like music is a massive part of your life
✨ People who've got opinions or ideas, about politics, our rights and the criminal justice system
✨ People who've never performed in a show before but wanna be a part of something big and aren't afraid of being themselves!

All positions are paid! We'll be out and about at different community centres around Bradford, swipe to find your closest one!

Shwmae! Sut wyt ti? Our Welsh language book club has started again in Cardiff (Caerdydd!) Come and join us on Wednesdays from 11am- 12pm in our office at Llanrumney Hall.

Clwb Llyfrau Cymraeg is open to everyone, whatever your level of Welsh. For an hour, we read Welsh stories together with a paned (brew)! We have a laugh, encourage each other, and work out what we don't know.

It's free to join, and you don't need to book in advance. There is a lift in the building, and you can reach us by the number 49 or 50 bus.

Our team has been busy building a whole town of cardboard houses to become part of our How To Build A Town set. How To Build A Town is kicking off on Saturday from 6pm - 8pm at the St Mellons Hub. It's going to look so pretty.

We're thrilled to say that we've been able to add some more tickets!

We're bringing you 90 minutes of performance, facilitated conversation and the sharing of food to come together to find alternatives, solutions and solidarity within our community around mental health.

PLAY - PAINT - RITUAL

We are continuing our series of Everyone Is An Artist workshops with a session to explore play through art, paint, and ritual.

We will work with gentle movement to warm up our minds and bodies – and experiment with using our bodies to paint. It will get messy – in the best possible way! Bring clothes that you don't mind getting messy.

Ffion Campbell-Davies is a multi-disciplinary artist and activist who works with a diverse range of artistic forms, including film and performance art. We’re very excited to see how they use their experience to help you experiment with making art in new ways.

We hope that Ffion’s workshop will help you feel relaxed and connected to other people, as well as having had the opportunity to explore different types of art in a supportive environment.

WHO: Participants aged 6 and over (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult).

WHEN: Saturday 5th October

TIME: 1pm to 3pm, participants are welcome to continue to stay and create until 4pm

WHERE: St.Mellons Hub, Cardiff. CF3 0EF.

A £5 deposit is required, this will be refunded upon attendance of the workshop.

RIGHT/S is part of the @bradford_2025 City of Culture programme! 💥💥💥💥

What does this mean?
It means we're making an exciting new show here in Bradford, taking over a top secret city centre venue, collaborating with an amazing team of artists and we're on the look out for 20 BRADFORD BASED YOUNG PEOPLE TO PERFORM WITH US!

We're looking for people under 30 in Bradford who are passionate about music and politics. You might be a DJ, rapper or musician, or you might have big opinions about the criminal justice system and the criminalisation of young people!

All positions are PAID, main cast £4k fee and supporting cast £1.4k fee.

We've got auditions all over Bradford in October, come meet us!

And for everyone else, keep your eyes peeled for tickets - it's gunna be a busy one! See you in June 2025!!✨✨

We are so excited to announce our new show RIGHT/S is part of the @bradford_2025 programme!

Are we really all innocent until proven guilty?

Right/s is a major new work about freedom, justice and youth culture in the 21st century made by Common Wealth, commissioned by Bradford 2025 City of Culture and performed by a incredible cast of 20 young people, rappers & DJs from Bradford.

Right/s explores the criminalisation of young people across society – and how knowing our rights can give us the power we need to shape our future.

From club night to courtroom and beyond, see you there!
