Common Wealth & Albany Park Theater Project – NEED YOUR HELP!

Hi Friends,

Common Wealth and Albany Park Theater Project are making a show about how we connect across borders and bring young people together, we’ve been working with a group of young people in Chicago and as part of the performance we want to include international voices of other young people.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

We are asking young people around the world to record a short video in response to the following creative writing prompt:

I am ….. NAME OF CITY (where I live or where I come from)

For example –

I am Chicago

I am Chicago the home of basketball games in alleyways,

With bucket drummers and singers.

And murals under every bridge.

I am Chicago. A City deeper than bullet holes.

You will need to speak in first person as if the city/ town is you and how it would describe itself, both positive and negative. This can be spoken in any language.

You will be speaking to other young people in Chicago what would you like to tell them about where you are from.

We will need to receive these recordings by Wednesday 5th July at 2pm.

You can record with any device (mobile phone, tablet, laptop)

The final recordings will be used in a performance in Chicago on Friday 7th & Saturday 8th of July, for 400 audience members performed by 38 Chicago young people.

We would love you and all the young people you work with to be part of this moment. This is the beginning of an ambitious project for 2019 so hopefully we’ll be able to connect up on a deeper level in the future.

Please send us videos to [email protected]

THANK YOU!!
