DIY ART LAB
Finding dedicated space to make and create as a theatre maker and artist is rare.
Common/Wealth’s DIY ART LAB invites anyone curious about developing their creativity to join us. Throughout the year, we will curate experimental workshops led by pioneering artists from the UK and beyond. We’re a theatre company but we programme workshops across art, writing, and performance—work that doesn’t stay in one lane.
We believe everyone is an artist. Whether you’re an established artist, returning to a childhood passion or exploring all this for the first time – it’s all welcome and it’s all allowed.
DIY ART LAB will unlock potential, introduce new art forms, and reimagine what’s possible — in ourselves and in Wales.
Common/Wealth makes experimental, political work that celebrates the people we know and the places we’re from. It is work that connects, tells our stories, and pushes performance to transport audiences to other worlds.
We invite you to come and have a go, dip your toes in, and see what you create.
Workshops need to be booked in advance, and you can choose to pay £2 or £5.
If you have any access requirements please let us know – we have a budget to cover additional costs and can support you in attending. We can help you with travel, childcare, or meeting your physical needs. Email [email protected].
Making it up as we go along: a performance making workshop to generate ideas and fuel your creativity
Our DIY ART LAB workshops kick off with Liv Ello, a writer-performer, theatre maker and live artist based in London. Liv’s focus is to make work queerly – embracing an anarchic approach to form and language, and blending together forms such as spoken word, clowning, multimedia, cabaret and physical comedy.
Liv will be supporting participants to explore their creative practice, spotlighting what makes each artist uniquely brilliant, and try out some new ways of developing our ideas.
