Saoirse Teale
Youth & Community Associate Director (Bradford)
Saoirse is a Bradford-born theatre-maker, director and facilitator and who is primarily interested in creating theatre that instigates social change and using the arts as a tool to empower communities. Saoirse worked with Common/Wealth on I Have Met the Enemy, before formally joining the team in 2021 as Community Producer at Common Space.
Saoirse trained as a theatre-maker at Rose Bruford College, where she discovered a love for alternative and political theatre. Since then, she has worked in various creative and project management roles with Leeds Playhouse, Good Chance Theatre, Cecil Green Arts, York Mind, York Theatre Royal and Beyond the Margin. Her practice intersects between alternative creative intervention for young people combined with a love for activism, live art, and political devised theatre.
Saoirse’s role at Common/Wealth primarily involves managing and delivering our busy youth strands, as well as community outreach and casting on all our major projects. She is the festival director of 29% Festival (Common/Wealth’s annual festival celebrating young people and young artists). Her other directing credits include The Games they Play (2024), Still Waiting (2024), Off Road (2023), Mud Water & Magic (2022), and Associate/Youth Director credits on Public Interest (2025) and You are here as a Witness (2022).
