Annie Brooker
Communications and Campaigns Manager
Annie works across our Bradford and Cardiff teams with a focus on storytelling and movement-building.
She joins Common/Wealth from the climate justice collective Platform, where she led strategic communications across campaigns for public ownership, worker control and exposing fossil fuel influence in government. Previously, Annie worked on membership campaigns for community-owned newspaper the Bristol Cable and on environment journalism at Resurgence & Ecologist.
Outside Common/Wealth, Annie is the freelance creative producer for Workers, Tenants, Friends – a programme supporting artists and organisers to create community archives. She also teaches creative writing for Faber Academy and mentors underrepresented writers through the Wellcome Collection’s Non-Fiction Award.
Annie’s first book (Intervals, 2024) is a personal and political story about dying poor and resisting austerity through creativity and care. Intervals was longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction, shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and won the Bread and Roses Prize for Radical Publishing and the Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize. Annie is currently working on an experimental novel about friendship, madness and the welfare state.
